To insert special Characters in Google Sheets use the below 3 Methods.

  • By adding Special Characters from Google Docs.
  • Open Google docs.
  • Go to the Main Menu toolbar, Click on Insert Menu, and Select Special Characters.
  • Adjust the Symbols inside Insert Special Character Window.
  • Select the required Symbol.
  • Copy the Symbol.
  • Paste the Symbol in Google Sheets Cell.
  • The Required Special Character has been inserted in Google Sheets.
  • By adding Symbols Using Alt Key Codes
  • Double click inside a cell where you need the Symbol.
  • Now press and hold the ALT key and simultaneously press the corresponding numeric key for the required Symbol.
  • By Using Windows Character Map
  • Search for Windows Character Map
  • Select and Start Windows Character Map
  • Select the desired Character which needs to be copied.
  • Copy the Required Character.
  • Paste the Character in Google Sheets.

How to Insert Special Characters in Google Sheets : Step by Step Guide

By adding Special Characters from Google Docs

The simplest method to add a Special Character in Google Sheets is by first creating the Symbol in Google Docs and then copying it to Google Sheets.

Follow the Below Steps to insert Special Characters from Google docs

Step 1: Open Google docs.

Step 2: Go to the Main Menu toolbar, Click on Insert Menu, and Select Special Characters.

Step 3: Adjust the Symbols inside Insert Special Character Window.

  • Once you click on Special Characters under the Insert menu drop-down. A new Insert Special Characters screen will pop up.
  • On the Insert Special Characters screen,you can click on the down arrow infront of Symbols to adjust the Symbol as per your requirement.

Depending on the Symbol required you can change it to Emoji, punctuation, Number, Format & Whitespaces, Modifier, etc.

Step 4: Select the required Symbol.

Step 5: Copy the Symbol

  • The Required Symbol will be inserted in your Google docs.
  • Simply Select the Symbol and Copy the Symbol using mouse right-click or Keyboard Shortcut CTRL+C

Step 6: Paste the Symbol in Google Sheets Cell.

Now open the Google Sheets and select the cell where you need a special character. Right Click and Select Paste or use CTRL+V keyboard Shortcut.

Step 7: The Required Special Character has been inserted in Google Sheets.

#By adding Symbols Using Alt Key Codes

You can insert special characters in Google Sheets by adding symbols using alt key codes.

To add symbols using alt code use the below Steps :

  • Double click inside a cell where you need the Symbol.
  • Now press and hold the ALT key and simultaneously press the corresponding numeric key for the required Symbol.

By Using Windows Character Map to Insert a Symbol Into Google Sheets

You can also insert a Symbol in Google Sheets using Windows Character Map.

To insert a character using Windows Character Map follow the below Steps.

Step 1: Search for Windows Character Map

Type Windows Character Map on Windows Search area at the bottom left of your Windows Desktop Home Screen.

Step 2: Select and Start Windows Character Map

Click on the Character Map app

Step 3 : Select the desired Character which needs to be copied.

  • Click on the Required Character.
  • Now Click on Select to Select the Chracter.

Step 4: Copy the Required Character.

Click on Copy to Copy the required Character.

Step 5: Paste the Character in Google Sheets.

Paste the Character using mouse right Click or Keyboard Shortcut CTRL+V
